Welcome to
the new Telford Park Junior Website and Coaching Programme. The programme is run by Charles Morris, our new Head Coach and will cater for junior players of all age and ability ranges.
This section of the Website will provide information for the junior members of the club and their parents. You'll find information on Coaching, Playing and many other areas. There is not too much in the way of content at the moment but over the coming months more information will be added so please come back as often as you can for the latest news and updates.
The exciting new coaching programme will run in line with the LTA NATIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR TENNIS which supports the LONG TERM PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME.
So what will the programme entail?
There are 3 defined stages, RED, ORANGE and GREEN which have clear progressions in terms of size of court, speed of ball and the activities involved.
So what are the advantages?
There will be a more game based approach to coaching. The coloured lower compression balls make it easier for children to have rallies and get into matchplay at a younger age as more balls come into the strike zone (hip to shoulder height) rather than above the head. Children develop better technique and find tennis more engaging. They do not spend their whole time picking up balls!
More opportunities:
There will be increased emphasis on actually playing the game with lots of oppurtunities to play points, tie breaks and mini matches. Players will work towards a fun, internal mini tournament within their ball stage. This will take place in the sixth week of every course. Oppurtunities to compete with players from other clubs outside Telford Park will also be regularly available. LOOK OUT FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS.
For the
's!
Talented and experienced juniors have the opportunity to receive coaching in a challenging enviroment and will be able to train and compete at the appropriate level.
Please read through the programme information to see which group you think your child is suitable for (coaches can advise on the correct group). We hope parents will support us by understanding that the quality of group coaching is dependant on children being placed in the right group for their age and ability.
If you have any questions regarding coaching please send an email to 'coaching' via the Contact Us section at the top of this page.
